Local Dishes
Some local dishes that you might want to try include the following . . .
Butifarra
The local type of sausage, usually very large and served with pale beans.
Crema catalana
A custard pudding sealed with a coating of burnt caramel.
Escalivada
Charcoal or oven roasted eggplant, red pepper and onions, smothered in olive oil, and sometimes chopped garlic.
Faves a la catalana
Broad beans fried in olive oil with garlic, mushrooms and ham. Sometimes served with fresh mint.
Pan amb tomàquet
Fresh country bread that you add things to, sort of making your own garlic bread, by rubbing tomatoes, garlic, oil, salt and pepper on to it.
Xai al forn
Oven baked lamb, usually sholder or leg of lamb.
